It isn't every day that you run across this kind of local talent. Larry Chapman started as a youngster accompanying his dad on a small drum made out of an oatmeal box. His older sister accompanied on the piano and his father was on the saxophone. Later he was talented enough for his dad to make him a set of professional drums, stretching the wet skins for the drum heads by hand. He also received a marimba, snare drum, handmade cymbals and a wood block.
Chapman grew up entertaining at hospitals, clubs and events, all while taking piano lessons, learning the trombone and saxophone. He performed as an adult as Larry Mann and played with the Glen Miller Orchestra, Righteous Brothers, Three Dog Night and the Coasters.
Today, Larry lives in Turtle Lake.
